The beaches are empty and everyone is at home, counting the days when this invisible antagonist, CoVid-19 gets defeated. For now, we have to retreat and stay at home, spend more time with the family, reach out more to long distant family and friends through social media, learn a new skill at home, or for me, reminiscing the previous summer days that I get to enjoy the beach.

Having said that, and since I got plenty of time, I am sharing my Top 11 Beach Destinations in the Philippines.

Disclaimer: This is my Top 11 beach destinations which I was able to visit and experience. It might slightly or totally be different on how you ranked them but to each his own.

Top 11: Lakawon Island, Negros Occidental (2016)

I am from Negros but I’ve been here just once. I think this is the closest and decent (understatement) beach if you’re from Bacolod. The island has been developed into something luxurious but still affordable for travelers who are in a budget.

Don't miss out to experience the Taw Hai Floating Bar if it’s open and available. It depends on the season and how strong the waves are.

Top 10: White Beach, Camiguin (2014)

If you’re in Camiguin, visit White Island and enjoy fresh ‘uni’ by the beach. It’s an island that vanishes during high tide. It’s perfect if you enjoy basking under the sun. There were kiosks that serve lunch and snacks. We stayed for just an hour because there were no cottages available when the sun is scorching hot.

Top 9: Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte (2014)

Sometimes the best beaches are the hardest to reach. From Manila, I rode a bus going to Bicol, then rode a van going to the port, and a boat ride of about 2 hours to reach this paradise. That’s more than 12 hours of traveling and it was so worth it.

During that time, I was traveling as a joiner and don’t know the rest of the campers. Usually you book it as a package and everything is being provided from the tent, to the food, booze, and activities by the organizer.

Top 8: Bonbon Beach, Romblon (2018)

If you’re in Romblon City, Bonbon Beach is very much accessible once you arrive at their port. Entrance is free and it’s a long stretch of beach and if you continue treading up to the end, there should be a sandbar that connects the beach to the nearby island. Be sure though that it’s low tide so it will show up.

I envy the locals that they get to enjoy this paradise anytime of the day for 365 days.

Top 7: Fortune Island, Batangas (2015)

This place is a gem that’s next level to your usual beach in Batangas. It’s an island and would require 45 minutes to 1 hour of boat ride. Once used to be a private resort, the island has grecian pillars mounted on top of the hill that brings you the feels that you’re in Athens, Greece.

The structure of the resort building is still there but has gradually deteriorated and got destroyed overtime. Seems like it’s difficult to maintain the island without access to fresh water and electricity.

Top 6: Boracay Island, Aklan (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016)

Defiitely, Boracay should be included on the list. Visited the island 4th times and it’s still a beauty to behold. If you’re into adventures, food-hunting experience, chill/relax, and to party like a rockstar, this place does not disappoint.

Aside from the White Beach from Station 1,2 &3, just a few minutes tricycle ride is the Puka Beach if you’re into less crowded beach experiece in Boracay.

Unfortunately, I never had blogged the most visited beach of the Philippines. Guess, I need not have to.

Top 5: El Nido, Palawan (2014)

I celebrated my 28th birthday at this island. With so many beautiful islands in El Nido, I only get to enjoy each island for an hour or two since it’s an organized tour together with other visitors. Unless you hire your own private boat, you don’t have a choice but to follow the schedule of the itinerary of your chosen type of tour.

For me, it’s when we enter the Big Lagoon that is stands out. I was in awe how crystal clear the water is, guided by the rocky cliffs on both side.

Top 4: Caramoan Island, Camarines Norte (2015)

I guess it’s on my Top 5 not just because of it’s printine beaches but because I get to enjoy the place with some of my good friends.

Manlawi Sandbar is my most favorite in these group of islands in Caramoan. The island is also a favorite location of several Survivor shows; a reality TV show.

Top 3: Us-usan Sandbar, Guimaras (2019)

This place tends to shift its sandbar depending on the season and direction of the waves. This isolated and not so popular island destination is a perfect getaway for campers and backpackers. If you’re lucky enough, since this sandbar seldom receives visitors, there’s a high chance that you’ll get to enjoy the place all for yourself or together with your family and friends.

Top 2: Coron, Palawan

Like El Nido, you can visit Coron’s beatiful sceneries if you avail their island hopping tours. My favorite is the Malcapuya Island. Not sure though if Malcapuya is already a private resort or still open for tourist up to today. I wish I could have stayed 2 or 3 nights here and enjoy the long-stretched, super refined, white sand.

I braved this destination as my first solo travel to celebrate my 27th birthday. Checking my list of blog entries, surprisingly, I haven't blogged about this unforgettable vacation. How come?!

Top 1: Kalanggaman Island, Leyte (2016)

Still, top of my list is the Kalanggaman Island. Langgam in Bisaya means bird; it used to be a sanctuary for migrating birds (hope birds still get to rest here during their migaration). I celebrated my 30th birthday here. The island now has cabanas and tents that you can rent if you wish to stay overnight. This island is a postcard-worthy destination that can be reached if you’re in Palompon, Leyte or if you’re coming from Malapascua, Cebu.

For sure, there are still other beautiful beaches in the Philippines that I haven’t been to. My ranking is based on how I was in awe the day I laid my eyes on its beauty. Also, the amount of time I get to spent on them and how it lingers on my mind meven up to this day. Though I don’t mind whichever comes first if I get the chance to come back and visit these beautiful beaches.

If you can suggest, which beach destination I should have visited and include in my list? Feel free to leave a comment down below.
