Baler, Aurora: Surfers' Paradise of the North

At least once a year, I get to travel for free. From transportation, accommodation, food, and even for the surfing experience, I spent not even a centavo. That's how pampered and spoiled we are from our company's department. So don' expect a breakdown of how much I spent for this trip.

When we have activities like this which requires travelling for at least 4 hours, we always do it at night. Better not to have sleep than getting stuck in traffic and being grilled in a 40° Celsius weather temperature.

Since we arrived so early (with resorts usual check in time at 12 noon), we just left our luggage and get to check what's in store for us.

In Baler, brownout is a frequent visitor so make sure that your accommodation has a generator so you can at least charge your mobile phone. Sad to say, Bay's Inn doesn't have one (we're there last September 2013, hopefully they acquired one now).

Good thing is, the owner of the resort is a relative of our manager. Instantly, we got a one free, large room at an adjacent resort (I heard it was owned by the Angara's).

When I travel, I don't usually stay at a posh-type resort for I spend most of the time doing activities outside. I must admit, I'd rather just stay in the room, or sun-bathe at one of the daybeds while sipping refreshments by the pool.

Yes, they're complimentary and perfect after surfing or every time you pass by the pool side. Staff are very welcoming and always greet you with a smile.

I like the sides of the pool because it is made of wood. It's great for kids and adults when they  like goofing around with less tendency of slipping.

Each room is secured with a proximity card. There's an alarm when the door is left open after 10 seconds. Rooms are large and very spacious. Ahhh.... the bed will swallow you whole.  The  room has a natural day light, panoramic view facing the ocean.

Whether your inside or outside your room, this resort is definitely awesome. If I'll go back to Baler, for sure, I'm gonna stay in this resort. Crossing fingers that an overnight stay is within my budget.

These people are simply the best. Our team buildings are always jam-packed of crazy things to do and a thousands of 'clicks' and 'say-cheeze'.

Since we hadn't slept yet and the the sun was not so friendly, we decided to do surfing the next day before leaving the place. Suddenly, our minds changed after devouring this mouth-watering, very-pinoy, only in Baler dessert from Bayler Restaurant.

Yes, the sun suddenly hid from us and the weather was just so perfect for first time surfers. Of course, since we're trying to squeeze the budget, we have to haggle for the price. Finally, we agreed at 2 surfers per guide for an hour. So each pair will get to surf for 30 minutes. Outside that, we had to pay personally.

It was hard at first but when you get to manage your balance, you'd like to think that this is the sport for you. Yes, I admit, I almost gave up but the feeling after you've done it is so worth it.

I just feel so sexy that I have to take of my shirt and pose for a pic. Sadly, my abs were too shy to show up. lol

While waiting for the sun to enveloped itself from the horizon, we still managed to enjoy the remaining night in this beautiful resort. I wish these couple will not recognize themselves or visit my blog. I was trying to take a photo of the entire pool and they just didn't want to leave.
