CEBU: PLANTATION BAY RESORT AND SPA

It’s my 3rd time to visit Cebu and I’ve never visited same place or attraction twice. It means, there’s a lot to discover and places to go to in Cebu.

Also, it’s the first time I did not fly from Manila but instead I drove a total of 4 hours and rode the 2-hour Roro ship to reach the island. Pretty convenient to bring your car with you to navigate the Queen City of the South at your own pace and time.

From Bacolod, we traverse the Don Salvador Benedicto path going to San Carlos Port which we will alight a ferry to reach Toledo, Cebu. From there, another 2 hour drive to be in Lapu-lapu. Might take a little less if not for traffic.

One thing I’ve noticed is that that traffic in the city of Cebu is somehow becoming like that of Manila; a little stressful and time-consuming.

I was looking forward to our stay at the Plantation Bay Resort in Mactan for this trip. Thanks to my cousins, Alexis and MichelleJoy for the discount and treat. Also to Lj for making it easier for us to drive around the city. Also to their friend, Jun Rey for tagging along and making us feel at home and welcomed while we were there.

I was amazed how the resort was able to create an island within an island. You don’t have to go to the beach as they already brought it inside for your convenience. They even have villas that have direct access to the pool/lagoon. They also offer activities like biking the 11-hectare palm-lined resort, archery, wall climbing, game room with arcade and table games, diving area, pool slides, snorkeling/scuba diving, and a lot more!

All in all, the experience is one for the books.

Expenses:

P2600 - Lite Ferries Shipping Vehicle - P1300/car/way (Sedan type of cars) free ticket for the driver. You can get the promo of P1,100 if you’ll travel at the wee hours.

P3000 - gas for 4 days/3 nights Bacolod to Cebu to Bacolod

P200 - You may need to pay terminal fees for you and your car when you leave Toledo Port. No extra fees from San Carlos Port.

The Bloody Pool at Wisik Resort

Some find it disgusting and weird but it's getting the attention it deserves. Who would have thought that this simple and laid back resort is a standout because of its bloody red pool.

If you're from Negros or traveling the island, you may want to drop by and visit the resort at Brgy. Tibsok, San Enrique. It's 35 kms from the south of Bacolod.

I really want to give it a try when I last visited Bacolod City. Luckily, my friend lives in the following town so we're able to drop by the resort. At the same time, I get to visit her family from her husband's side who were very accommodating and a loving family. Of course, I've met her husband, bf that time, Ryan, who I traveled with before when they visited Manila.

As mentioned, the place is so laid back and perfect for family weekend gathering or spending time with your barkada. They also have fishing lagoons where you can do fishing and cook what you caught for a price.

Unfortunately, they've already harvested the lagoons when I visited and fishing is not available during that time. But then again, I only stayed for 30 minutes and wasn't really there to try fishing.

Shout out to one of my closest college friends, Krsimarie, who took the time to meet me in Bacolod and accompanied me and feed me on my last day in Bacolod. lol

All in all, due to it's location and how far it is from Bacolod, I don't really recommend it to be included in your travel itineraries. But the idea that you're able to swim in a bloody pool is one thing you could tick off from your bucket list.

I guess as a traveler, sometimes you are not bothered about distance or even with the price once you've made up your mind on visiting a particular travel destination. Echoing the famous line in the movie 'Finding Nemo', "Just keep swimming.".

Rates and How to Get Here:

All vehicles plying the southern routes like Hinigaran, La Carlota, and Himamaylan pass through the Municipality of San Enrique. From there, tricycle drivers would already know once you tell them you're going to Wisik Resort. Bus fare is at P100-P150 for a 1 hour travel time from Bacolod South Bus Terminal.

Nasugbu, Batangas: Club Punta Fuego

As they say, the best things in life are for free and the second best are very expensive. The 'bestest' thing though, I was able to stay here without spending a penny.

Club Punta Fuego is a luxury membership resort located in Nasugbu, Batangas. It was our department's company planning and I always love it when I am on "bleisure"; business + leisure.

This beautiful haven is a 3-hour drive from Manila passing by the Ternate-Nasugbu Highway. What I love about this resort is its exclusivity for you to have a tranquil and relaxing home away from home stay-cation.

The resort also has a picture-perfect view of the golden horizon at sunset. It is composed of the Main Club in Peninsula de Punta Fuego, the Beach Club at Terrazas de Punta Fuego, and the Punta Fuego Yacht Club.

The Main Club in Peninsula de Punta Fuego is where we spent most of our time due to our business planning. This is where the restaurant, meeting rooms, casitas and accommodations, double infinity pool, and the beach.

The Beach Club at Terrazas de Punta Fuego is where we had our dinner on the last night of our stay. I love the al fresco setup which adds to its rustic vibe.

Luckily, we were able to finish earlier than scheduled on our last day of meeting. We get to chill at the Punta Fuego Yacht Club. I can say that this is the best part of the resort that I would love to spend my afternoon with. Not because of happy hour but the sight of the expensive yachts while sipping margarita makes me feel like I am part of the elite society. lol

The beach at the Peninsula didn't have a long stretch of sand and seems like it's not good for swimming. It's the Beach Club at Terrazas de Punta Fuego that you'll get to enjoy beach activities during your stay. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to do it.

You'll definitely gonna fall in love with the golden sunset at Main Club in Peninsula de Punta Fuego.

It should have been a double infinity pool but the second one is under renovation.

I also love how spacious our room was. I could have taken more photos of it; unfortunately I was not able to.

Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how much you need to pay for a night stay at Punta Fuego. You can always check their official website for rates and availability.

All of this happened last January 2017 and it took me more than a year to blog about it. Actually, I still have a lot of pending travels that I haven't blogged about. A bitter-sweet as I may see less often my millennial friends in the photo above than I used to.

One day, sana ako naman yung nasa pool na may kasama at may mag-volunteer to take my place in this picture. haha

Overall, in a span of one year, I can say that life has been very good and generous to me.
